The weeks before Rosh HaShana , the Jewish New Year, present a time for the US, Israel and the United Arab Emirates to hammer out details of their unprecedented peace accord.

One issue on the agenda is the future relationship between the UAE and UNRWA, whose school system promotes “right of return” for five million descendants of Arab refugees from 1948 to take back homes and villages which have replaced by Israel.

UAE has quadrupled its donation to UNRWA to $51 million, making it the leading donor to UNRWA in the Arab world, and the fifth largest donor to UNRWA in the entire world.

In the spirit of the atmosphere of peace that the UAE, Israel and the US have generated, it is vital that he UAE peace accord mandate that UAE funds to UNRWA be used to advance education for peace, and override the current curriculum, which is focused on indoctrinating the next generation to liberate all of Palestine by force of arms, as the research of the Center for Near East Policy Research has documented over the past twenty years. The time has come for advocates of peace in the Middle East to communicate with the UAE, Israel and the US, to mandate that the UAE accord include a vital clause for peace

David Bedein is an MSW community organizer and an investigative journalist.   In 1987, Bedein established the Israel Resource News Agency at Beit Agron to accompany foreign journalists in their coverage of Israel, to balance the media lobbies established by the PLO and their allies.   Mr. Bedein has reported for news outlets such as CNN Radio, Makor Rishon, Philadelphia Inquirer, Los Angeles Times, BBC and The Jerusalem Post, For four years, Mr. Bedein acted as the Middle East correspondent for The Philadelphia Bulletin, writing 1,062 articles until the newspaper ceased operation in 2010. The Center for Near East Policy Research has been instrumental in reaching elected officials, decision makers and journalists, commissioning studies, reports, news stories and films.
