The White House National Security Council spokesman issued the following statement about UNRWA

“The United States has supported the work of UNRWA and has been among its leading donors, having provided over $359 million in assistance to UNRWA in FY 2017.  Like other UN agencies, UNRWA has been directed to use the curriculum of the relevant governing authority in its schools.  UNRWA staff is required to integrate teaching material and teaching plans to reflect neutrality and respect for human rights.  The United States has long supported UNRWA’s humanitarian work, and recognizes its role as a stabilizing force and counterweight to extremism.  This includes the education of nearly 500,000 Palestinian students in about 700 schools.  We are aware of allegations of anti-Semitism in the curricula UNWRA uses, and are in regular contact with UNRWA to ensure they review all allegations and take remedial action when necessary”.

Mr. Robert J. Palladino

‎Special Advisor for External Relations, Office of the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs

Dear Mr. Palladino,

Concerning the above UNRWA NSC policy statement, The Center for Near East Policy Research and the Israel Resource News Agency have conducted hands on research, reporting and filming  of UNRWA for more than 30 years. http://israelbehindthenews.com/?s=unrwa

Our agency has been informed that the US government does not vet, examine or translate the PA textbooks used by UNRWA.

We are pleased to inform the NSC that we have completed a thorough examination and translation of all Palestinian Authority UNRWA text  books now in use  in the current school year by UNRWA, in the West Bank, Jerusalem and  Gaza.  This study was underwritten by the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Middle East Forum.

Therefore, our center offers to bring Dr. Arnon Groiss, the main author of this thorough investigation of  UNRWA textbooks, to brief the professional NSC staff concerning the findings that emanate from this first comprehensive study of Palestinian Authority textbooks.

Sincerely Yours,

David Bedein
