Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s retreat from the Gaza Strip was a terrible
mistake.

But it´s a fact.

As a result of the retreat and developments that followed the “destiny” of
the Gaza Strip is no longer tied in a Gordian knot with that of the “West
Bank”.

This development has effectively neutered the demography argument.

Two state solution advocates can continue with their mantra about the
possibility of an Arab majority “between the (Jordan) River and the
(Mediterranean) Sea” but we all know they’ve put their thumbs on the
demographic scale by including the Gazans in the count.

Simply put, the “demographic bomb” is a dud for the foreseeable future
whether we kick the can down the road for another fifty years or have the
cabinet vote tomorrow to extend Israeli law over the entire West Bank with
the Arabs residing there now granted full Israeli citizenship.
