Although the Friday sermon of the mosques in Shefaram can be heard very well throughout this Arab city, not all the inhabitants like what they hear.
The city’s Christian inhabitants say that the sermon in one of the major mosques of Shefaram included statements against the IDF’s fighting and in favor of Nasrallah and contained such statements as “The Americans and the Israelis are the enemies of Islam” and “We encourage Nasrallah to continue on his path.”
The sermon drew harsh criticism among the city’s non-Muslim inhabitants. “We were in shock,” said A., a Christian woman who lives in Shefaram. “We feel very uncomfortable hearing that. Anyone who encourages such terrible acts does not understand that Nasrallah can hurt him, too. We don’t understand how they can say such things during wartime. It is terrible incitement. They are encouraging Nasrallah to harm Jews. Why aren’t the police dealing with it?”
Another woman resident of the area said: “Regrettably, this happens in many mosques in the north. People jump for joy when a rocket lands, but there have been several strikes on Majd el-Krum and on Nazareth. Hizbullah makes no distinctions.”
