Questions to the US government concerning current US Middle East Policy

Questions Sent today to  the US Government.

Enclosed please find three  questions which we ask that you relate to by Saturday night , January 25, when our agency will submit  a journalistic critique to the media of the official peace proposal offered by the  administration, “Peace to prosperity – a new vision for the Palestinian people and the broader middle east”.[1] 

This new plan aroused our interest due to the extensive research that our agency has  undertaken over the last 20 years concerning the educational content of the Palestinian Authority schools, which work under the  aegis of the Palestinian Liberation Organization UNRWA, The UN Relief and Works Agency.

Reviewing all 365 school books and all 109 teachers manuals issued by the PA for use in the UNRWA schools, our research concludes that the current PA school curriculum is grounded in three principles

1. No legitimacy for Jews to live in Israel
2. Demonizing  Jews.
3. Indoctrination  for total war on the “Zionist entity”

Yet in the ‘Peace to Prosperity’ program, the US calls for  support of PA education,  with no  mention of change  in the PA/UNRWA curriculum.

Question one: Why no demand for change in PA/UNRWA education?

In the section entitled ” Enhancing the Quality of the Education System in the West Bank and Gaza will ensure no Palestinian is disadvantaged by inadequate educational opportunity”.[2], the program  describes a vision of “the development and training of Palestinian educators while expanding access to educational opportunities for communities and populations that do not receive it”, as if there is an existing reality of sectoral discrimination against Palestinian Arabs. In its annual reports, UNRWA, which hosts responsible for many Palestinian educational institutions, boasts with satisfaction in providing access to equal, quality and safe education.[3]

Question two: Why does the program not mention that PA/UNRWA teaching manuals reinforce indoctrination of children for total war against Israel?

Question three: Why should the US propose such a  plan without the prior requirement for the commitment of the Palestinian education system to stop indoctrinating their students and teachers with demonization, delegitimization and incitement toward Israelis and Jews,  to harm them wherever they may be.
