The results of the UNRWA Union Elections in Gaza have been confirmed.
The United Professional Slate, headed by Amir al-Misehal, won an absolute majority in the elections held on April 24, 2019, for the UNRWA labor unions in the Gaza Strip, representing more than 11,000 workers.1
According to sources in the UNRWA labor union quoted by Hamas’ official website:2 Results of the elections for UNRWA’s Local Staff Union – The United Professional Slate, supported by Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), won 21 out of 27 seats.
The group affiliated with Muhammad Dahlan won 4 seats, The Democratic Front won and an independent candidate won a seat each.Results of the elections for the UNRWA Teachers’ Sector Union – The United Professional Slate won all 11 seats.
