Matters of Immediate Concern

1. There has been disregard of legal decisions of grave criminality.

The offenses of many of those being released are admitted to involve multiple crimes of the most serious character possible.

To ignore these decisions or to treat them as of no further effect is not only an unbearable insult to their victims but a most grave devaluation of the justice system of the country.

The absence of any effective appeal against this political action must, without doubt, question the value of the standing of the judiciary

2. This act represents a serious blow to the deterrence of the country, whether the particular issue is the morale of the Israel Defense Forces – in general or as if affects the individuals.

This applies to how nations abroad will now view the basic deterrence of the country as degraded. Examples of this will be seen from the Egyptian military response in the days to come.

What can be the purpose in endangering the lives of the IDF troops in capturing enemy personnel, if there is no long term prospect of their punishment being effective.

3. Making a deal with Hamas establishes their position as an international party of standing.

How can it be claimed that they are only a terrorist entity, to be isolated, when Israel is willing to accept their terms in this deal, without any real assurance that they will not act as before, in all respects

4. Questions raised by Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon as to the risks of future terrorism are certainly valid and require attention.

However, immediate action should concentrate on the issues mentioned above.

Right from the snatching the Shalit affair had become a Media test case of can it impose its views on the government and the country. no one contemplated how to punish Hamas and the Arabs who voted for hamas for the snatching. it was all about proving the Hamas is a legit partner fo negotiations. The judicial system, being part and parcel of the anti-zionist mind-set of the Media happily complied with making a farce of itself. Bibi saw a chance’ as did Sharon to come out on the Media’s good side, and is now reaping the short-term benefits. This was not about Shalit. this was about who runs the country, and proof-positive it is NOT the elected leadership.
