Who will stand up to Israel Defense Minister Gantz?

In our work, we have uncovered life threatening policies that the Israel Defense Minister allows to continue – without his objection.

1. We discovered the actual PA law that if you murder a Jew, you get a salary for life and that if you die in the process, your family will get a salary for life.

Incentivizing Terrorism: Palestinian Authority Allocations to Terrorists and their Families

This research was published by the JCPA, run by Dr. Dore Gold.

Israel Defense Minister Ganz, point man of the Israeli government with the Palestinian Authority, in charge of COGAT, which oversees PA policies, refuses to demand that the PA repeal this unprecedented “pay for slay” law.

2. The PA has adopted a new school curriculum – shared with UNRWA- which brainwashes the next generation to wage war on the Jews.

https://israelbehindthenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Jews-in-Palestinian-Authority-Schoolbooks-in-UNRWA-Use.pdf

The leading PA text book actually presents a woman who murdered 35 Jews, including 13 children, as a hero to be emulated.

Yet Ganz will not demand that the PA cancel their new curriculum.

Ganz will not ask donor nations to use their influence to remove textbooks which they fund – full of incitement and indoctrination.

Ganz now runs for reelection.

Will someone stand up against him?

What about people whose loved ones were murdered, only to see the killers honored with gratuities for the rest of their lives?

La La Land

This colloquial term’s definition is: “a euphoric, dreamlike mental state detached from the harsher realities of life.”

With this week’s visit by the President of the United States, recent pontifications by the President of the World Jewish Congress and sundry other “eytzis” givers, it definitely feels as though detachment from reality is becoming an endemic condition.

One never ceases to wonder how those whom we elect or who are anointed by unelected “machers” manage time after time to articulate the most inane nonsense. In the face of past failures and disasters they nevertheless resurface and peddle the same old solutions.

Never letting harsh reality get in the way of hallucinatory mirages these apostles of a flawed gospel keep spreading their messages to the masses. The general media love these people because their solutions to all our problems would inevitably result not in everlasting peace and tolerance but exactly the opposite. Anything which results in Israel and Israelis, that is Jews in particular, being cut down to size must be good for the politically correct as far as progressive ignoramuses are concerned.

There are some who sincerely believe that their exalted status in life combined with millions or perhaps billions of material assets gives them an unassailable advantage when it comes to peddling solutions to situations which have haunted us for many years. It helps if one is not living in Israel because while enjoying the delights of Diaspora exile one does not have to suffer the potential consequences of unsolicited advice.

Recently, Ron Lauder, the President of the World Jewish Congress used the general media to propose his “brilliant” solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs.

Launching a Marshall Plan would be a great opportunity to finally solve the Palestinian problem he proclaimed. What followed took a gigantic leap into the realm of science fiction. Offering the Palestinians a future of wealth, success and self reliance is a deal Palestinian leaders cannot turn down. It will provide the Palestinians with all the things that made Israel and other countries financially viable and would help to create a new and successful Palestine.

These visions of paradise sound eerily similar to the dreams peddled by the late Shimon Peres before they were shattered by the Palestinian Arab launched intifada of suicide bombers, exploding buses and unrestrained terror against Israelis.

Failure to look reality in the eye and seduction by hallucinations has always been the hallmark of far too many.

Unlike the Gulf States and Morocco which are making a genuine effort to wean their citizens away from hate and delegitimization and where economic partnership will definitely improve the lives of all concerned, the situation in the PA and Gaza is diametrically opposite. Egypt and Jordan have peace treaties in place and the President and Hashemite Monarch evince friendly gestures but the unfortunate reality is that none of this so called friendship has trickled down to the masses where the same denial of a legitimate Jewish sovereign presence reigns supreme.

Ron Lauder waxes lyrical about another Marshall Plan. Unfortunately he completely overlooks the fact that this plan was introduced in the wake of the complete dismantlement of the defeated Nazi regime and the establishment of genuine democratic reforms. To speak of a Marshall Plan for the current corrupt and terror supporting gang in Ramallah and Gaza is so idiotic that it defies any sort of logic.

Throwing further millions of dollars (your tax money) into the coffers of the current kleptochracies will merely perpetuate the anarchic situation and fuel increased terror. One has to ask where all the international aid already provided has ended up. Instead of building hospitals and clinics, improving living conditions, building schools and introducing textbooks which teach tolerance and peace and resettling refugees the PA and Hamas have invested in building terror tunnels, acquiring rockets, promoting terror, teaching hate and doing everything possible to avoid those very objectives which Lauder believes they would embrace once his pots of gold are handed over.

What Lauder and others who think like him do not seem to understand is the fact that we are dealing with leaders who ever since the return of the Jews to Zion have no intention of legitimizing any sort of Jewish sovereignty here. Unless and until a generation arises which knows not hate, terror and violence and is not brainwashed by endless sermons of hate from their lay and religious leaders alike no avalanche of money will ever change the situation.

Touting unrealistic schemes will not buy peace. It merely seduces the gullible and provides further fuel to the increasing number of those who would like to see the end of the Jewish State.

We are bracing for a visit by Joe Biden which promises to not only cause massive disruptions for residents of Jerusalem but will also close down major access routes to and from the Capital. That’s a temporary but nevertheless frustrating exercise in security panic mode. It is however nothing compared to the political mayhem which will accompany the visit and linger long after he leaves us.

A tsunami of wishful thinking, recycled rhetoric accompanied by previously failed strategies and futile attempts to appease Abbas will all be trotted out. Hopefully the teleprompter is working otherwise the messages could be more incoherent than they are usually are.

Biden’s and his Administration’s futile attempts to denigrate Israel’s sovereignty in its Capital will be on full display. His pilgrimage to Bethlehem to meet with the PA President for life will be yet another exercise of fantasy. He may be bearing gifts but he certainly won’t be asking awkward questions such as why Christians have become an endangered minority and why elections have not been held since 2006. He won’t even be challenging Abbas on the daily outpouring of hate.

Instead we will have to suffer insufferable garbage pouring forth all designed to convince Israelis that agreeing to divide Jerusalem and establish a terror entity in our midst will somehow usher in an era of peace and tolerance.

In advance of this visit the President issued what can only be described as a delusionary vision of his accomplishments so far. These included such gems as “the Middle East is more stable and secure than my administration inherited 18 months ago. We rebuilt ties with the Palestinians. The frequency of Iranian sponsored attacks has dropped precipitously. We helped end the war in Gaza. We restored US$500 million in support to the Palestinians.”

At the same time, reports have surfaced that the US is demanding that Israel compensate Palestinian Arab terrorists being held in Israeli prisons over charges that have not been proven yet regarding their involvement in terrorism.

Concurrently the PA Prime Minister claims that Israel is conducting laboratory experiments on Palestinian bodies.

After the PA reluctantly handed over a battered bullet for American investigation it was determined that it was impossible to say who shot the Aljazeera reporter. However, according to the US it “was likely that it was an Israeli soldier.” This follows the old well worn script that when evidence is lacking it must be the Jews what did it!!!

As you listen to or read the tripe that will be flowing take a look at this latest evidence (courtesy of PMW) of what reality rather than delusional dogma actually looks like.

https://palwatch.org/page/31828

Finally, a different example of what is being peddled these days.

The Russian Foreign Minister declared: “Russia/China ties are important in shaping a more just and democratic world based on the principles of international law, primarily the UN Charter.”

Baruch Habah – welcome to LA LA LAND.

President Joe Biden will appear on Friday, July 15 at the UNRWA

President Joe Biden will appear on Friday, July 15 at the UNRWA Augusta Victoria hospital, overlooking the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, where the US President may announce renewal of aid to UNRWA.

If the President renews aid to UNRWA without conditions, he will be acting in violation of the July 16 2021 US-UNRWA accord from one year ago, which spells out mandatory conditions for renewal of US aid which UNRWA has not met.

Antisemitic Reaction to Inclusion of Ariel University in Committee of University Heads

14.07.22

Editorial Note

In May 2021, IAM reported on the “Committee of University Heads’ Complexities with Ariel University.” At the time, the Committee of University Heads (VERA) debated whether to admit Ariel University to its ranks. VERA is a voluntary group, yet it has made decisions with far-reaching implications for the higher education system in Israel. VERA has advised and liaised on university matters since the 1960s. The office of VERA deals with the administrative and logistical coordination, monitoring, and implementation, of the relations between VERA and the different regulatory bodies, such as the Planning and Budgeting Committee of the Council for Higher Education (VATAT-MALAG), Knesset committees, and government ministries, requests from student unions, the public, and others.

Last month, after a long delay, VERA admitted Ariel University to its ranks. When in 2012, Ariel College received university status, VERA, apparently out of concern for becoming a target of BDS, refused to allow Ariel to join its rank. Publicly, VERA explained that recognizing Ariel College as a university would strain the budget, arguing there was no need for more universities. VERA’s opposition fitted well with the objection of left-leaning groups that argue that a university located in a West Bank settlement could damage the international standing of Israel.

Radical leftists are still at it. Academia for Equality (A4E), a group of radical left-wing academics based at Tel Aviv University, posted an angry post on Facebook titled, “Dangerous Normalization of Occupation and Theft.” A4E wrote, “Like many in the academic world in Israel and worldwide, we were shocked to read about the decision to include Ariel ‘University’ as a full member of the Committee of University Heads. The very existence of this Institution, which stands on occupied territory and serves the population of the occupying state exclusively, is a war crime, an expression of a clear apartheid policy, and a heavy distortion of professional academic ethics. The legitimacy of such institutions degrades Israeli society and turns the entire Israeli academy into a legitimate target for a boycott. ‘Ariel University’ was founded with the political aim of supporting the settlements and a continuation of military occupation in the Palestinian Territories. Naturally, all scholars who oppose the establishment of settlements and the continuation of the occupation refrain from being faculty members and cooperating with it, and so do members of the international scientific community who share this principled opposition.”

But the worst reaction came from Adv. Michael Sfard, who used antisemitic verbiage to denounce VERA, Ariel University, and Jewish settlements.

“Rhinos On You Israel” by Michael Sfard was published a few days ago by Haaretz. Sfard borrows from the play Rhinoceros by Eugène Ionesco, written in 1959, on humans who succumb to a mass metamorphosis. Sfard states as follows:

“Smelling the stench that has hit Israel in recent days? No, it’s not the usual summer stench or a mountain of garbage not collected from the street corner. It’s much deeper—the stink of rhinos. A new (additional) herd has been roaming around Israel in recent days, trampling on carpets of solidarity and uprooting the shrubs of decency. Rhinos of academia and culture. They think they are beautiful deer, radiant with a refined aesthetic and inspiring to the world, but their actions indicate that they are rhinos devoted to the sewage. The news of the decision of the Committee of University Heads (“VERA”) to accept the demand of an institution called ‘Ariel University’ to be admitted to their committee passed almost unnoticed. After years of struggle by the Israeli universities against recognizing the Institution in the settlement of Ariel as an Israeli university (to tell the truth, this opposition stemmed only from the fear of reducing their slice in the budget cake, it is now clear). After several years of resistance not to admit the heads of the Institution of Samaria to VERA, the presidents of the Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University, the University of Haifa, Ben Gurion University, Weizmann Institute, the Technion, and the Open University (and of course, Bar Ilan University) not only reconciled with the Israeli Anschluss of the West Bank but contributed to strengthening it. They agreed to include in VERA an institution located on occupied and stolen land, which does not serve the non-Jewish residents of its surroundings (except, at best, as a labor provider for cleaners and gardeners). An institution part of a Settlement used to harm the liberties of the oppressed communities it surrounds. This way, VERA has turned its committee into a body that contributes to the project of deprivation and fixation of deprivation of fundamental rights from millions of people and is an active partner in deepening apartheid. From today, do not say the Heads of Universities of Israel, but the Heads of Universities of Greater and Jewish Land of Israel.”

He ends by saying, “The political dividends given by admitting Ariel to VERA, the silencing of critical voices in culture are all the asphalt used to pave a two-lane, modern and pleasant-looking road on the crime scene. And this way, Academics and Artists provide stamp approvals to the rotten occupation. May the people eat it for pleasure—woe to the smell. You stink, friends and the smell is hard to block. It sticks to you and will not erase. It will accompany you wherever you go. It is like the bloodstains on Lady Macbeth’s hands.”

Sfard, who litigates on behalf of Palestinians, is known for his theatrics. Still, his declaration is misleading in asserting that the Institution does not serve non-Jews. Sfard should be aware that thousands of Arab students have attended and graduated from Ariel University over time. Needless to say, Sfard had nothing to say about the Palestinian universities which do not enroll Jewish-Israeli students. More troubling is Sfard’s suggestion that VERA colludes with the Israeli “Anschluss,” a reference to the Nazi annexation of Austria in 1938. Israel has recently adopted the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism which states that comparing Israeli policies to Nazi tactics is antisemitic.

On a different note, Sfard’s use of smelly, stinky elements is as puzzling as offensive.

Calling Israeli academics stinking and smelly just because you disagree with their actions is egregious. Would Haaretz ever publish an article in which the Palestinians are compared to smelly and dirty animals? Unfortunately, Haaretz is not the only perpetrator in a trend that calls Jews and Israelis highly odious names. Not coincidentally, the movement was pioneered by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the leading purveyor of antisemitism and antizionism, according to the Anti-Defamation League. In his Shiite theology, Ayatollah Khomeini and his successor as Supreme Leader have described Jews and Israelis as dogs, pigs, and unclean animals. While Jewish organizations worldwide have mounted a campaign to condemn the Islamists in Tehran, Haaretz and Sfard have indulged in antisemitic practices.

After $150 Million Boost From Biden, UN Agency Cited for Inciting Violence Against Jews

Even after the Biden administration injected $150 million into the organization, the United Nations agency responsible for Palestinian refugees continues to incite violence against Jews, and armed militants use its facilities, according to a non-public State Department report obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The State Department cited the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA)—which has a history of promoting violence against Jews and allowing its sites to be used by Hamas terrorists to store weapons and recruit children—with hundreds of infractions over the last year involving “armed incursions,” “the use of weapons in or near facilities,” and the construction of at least two tunnels under its schools that enabled terrorists to move weapons and personnel, according to an unclassified version of a congressional report.

Shortly after taking office in 2021, the Biden administration resumed $150 million in U.S. funding to UNRWA, which serves as the primary educational and aid organization to Palestinian refugees in the Middle East. Millions of dollars in U.S. funding were pushed through over the objection of Republican lawmakers, who cited UNRWA’s promotion of anti-Israel materials in its schools and connections to terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. The State Department report illustrates that these concerns are well-founded.

While these infractions breach funding guidelines set by the United States, the State Department determined that UNRWA lives up to its commitments to implement organization-wide reforms. A State Department spokesman declined to explain to the Free Beacon how the administration reached this determination after uncovering hundreds of what they call “violations of UNRWA’s neutrality policies.”

“UNRWA is a hopelessly anti-Semitic and terrorist-enabling organization,” Cruz said. “The Biden administration rejoined the organization anyway and promised to reform it. Now the numbers are in, and it is absolutely undeniable that they failed.”

“Of course,” Cruz said, “they’re trying to deny the failure and continue funding UNRWA anyway, because they are committed to undermining Israel and elevating its enemies. It is well past time for the United States to withdraw its support from this broken organization.”

UNRWA facilities have been used by Hamas to store weapons and recruit children who attend school there. Teaching materials, including textbooks and curricula, are often full of anti-Israel bias and promote the Jewish state’s destruction.

These issues are prevalent even with the new tranche of U.S. funding, according to the State Department report.

Nearly 300 security-related incidents took place, including, “armed incursions,” though the report does not name the offenders.

This “included armed incursions and incidents,” as well as the “unauthorized use of UNRWA installations, such as armed, non-UNRWA personnel attempting to distribute supplies to civilians on UNRWA grounds.” The report also identified “the use of weapons in or near facilities.”

Officials “found a cavity or tunnel under two of its schools in Gaza following airstrikes during the May 2021 violence” between Israel and Hamas, according to the report. Both sites “were filled with cement after their discovery.”

In at least 16 instances, UNRWA staff or personnel were accused of neutrality violations. In 10 of these cases “UNRWA staff incited violence on social media,” leading the organization to take “disciplinary measures” in early 2022.

A State Department spokesman would not discuss the report’s findings, saying, “as a general matter, we do not comment on communications with Congress.”

Pikuach Nefesh Alert: A strategic approach

The Lubavitche Rebbe once commented that concessions to the Palestinian Authority, which works under the aegis of the Palestine Liberation Organization, represent a matter of Pikuach Nefesh- a threat to human life.

The time has come to launch a strategic Pikuach Nefesh campaign, to challenge six life-threatening policies to Israel.

None of these challenges are insurmountable.

The goal: Organize citizens of conscience around the world to challenge policies which pose a threat to Jewish lives in Israel.

1. Pay for Slay

The PA has enacted an unprecedented statute which provides a salary for life to anyone who murders a Jew, and a salary for life to the family of anyone killed in the act of murdering a Jew. The PA adopted this policy of honoring those who murder Jews in the early stages of the Oslo Process, in October 1993.

In August 2015, the PA formalized the ordinance to automatically bestow a monetary gift on any Arab who murders a Jews, and a monetary gift for the family of any Arab killed in the act of murder or attempted murder of a Jew.

While the law of Pay For Slay has been widely condemned, it remains on the books and is applied every day, with the PA paying $1.1 billion to terrorists and their families. Source of the funds: Worldwide humanitarian donations.

The time has come to organize families of loved ones who have been murdered and whose assailants are now honored- to appeal to the conscience of every nation to demand a repeal of the “Pay for Slay” as a condition for any aid to the PA.

Such legislation, which generously rewards the spilling of Jewish blood, is documented at:

INCENTIVIZING TERRORISM: PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY ALLOCATIONS TO TERRORISTS AND THEIR FAMILIES

2. Indoctrination to war, as featured on PBC TV, radio and social media

Since the onset of the Oslo Process,in 1993. the Palestine Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), which operates on frequencies owned by Israel, features content that incites Arabs to wage war on the Jews. To save lives, we must put pressure on the government of Israel to pull the plug on the PBC.

3. PA schools

The Oslo process was supposed to yield the first independent Palestinian Arab curriculum, one that would promote peace and reconciliation. Instead, our review of more than 1000 PA textbooks handed over to UNRWA shows that the new PA curriculum indoctrinates a new generation toward total war on Jews, while delegitimating and demonizing the very presence of Jews in the land of Israel.

It has now an imperative to organize people of conscience to educate policy-makers and the public about the murderous messages conveyed by PA schools.

4. Palestine Security Forces

One of the core principles of the peace process, as envisioned in the 1979 Camp David accords and signed by Israel, the US and the PLO, was that the new Palestinian Arab entity would have a “strong police force” to protect it from terrorists.

However, that PA police force, known as the PSF, the Palestinian Security Force, trained by Israel and the US, has incorporated Arab terrorist organizations that remain in a state of total war with Israel. It is vital to recruit intelligence experts to brief policy-makers and the general public about the lethal dangers that lurk in the PSF.

THE DANGERS OF US AID TO PALESTINIAN SECURITY FORCES

5. UNRWA

UNRWA, overseeing the well-being of 6.7 million descendants of Arab refugees from the 1948 war, operates under the the funding and logistical support of the UN, donor nations and the State of Israel, located in 59 Arab refugee camps until a “just solution” is found to relieve their plight.

However, UNRWA camps are now infested with terror groups who operate under the premise of “The Right of Return by Force of Arms”, without any plan to replace Arab refugee camps with communities that would live in peace with Israel.

The UN Secretary General staff has met six times with the Bedein Center staff and has stressed that the only power to change UNRWA policy rests with the donor nations.

The time has come to organize a task force that would expose UNRWA incitement to genocide, while promoting a humanitarian solution to resettle the Arab refugees under conditions of dignity.

SIX POLICY CHALLENGES, TO GUIDE UNRWA POLICY REFORM

6. COGAT: Israel Civil Administration

COGAT- the Israel civil administration, mandated to promote Israel’s interests in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, allows Palestinian Arabs affiliated with terror groups to build anywhere, regardless of the law. COGAT facilitates Pay for Slay, PBC, PA schools, & UNRWA.

Moreover, COGAT allows Arab terrorist organizations to thrive, while subjugating Jewish life in Judea and Samaria. The time has come to organize a task force to challenge COGAT policies.

TIKKUN

Launch PIKUACH NEFESH ALERT, produced in the languages of each PA donor nation, especially on social media, to appeal to legislative bodies of each donor nation to adopt policies of donor nations to protect lives of Jews in Israel

David Bedein is director of Israel Resource News Agency and heads the Center for Near East Policy Research, author of Genesis of the Palestinian Authority and Roadblock to Peace: How the UN Perpetuates the Arab-Israeli Conflict: UNRWA Policies Reconsidered..

A colleague who has followed our work for many years asked two vital questions

Date: Tue, July 5, 2022

1. What change in the educational curriculum of children in the PA/Gaza do you think would take place if donor countries were made fully aware of the situation in the classroom right now?

2. How would that change benefit Israel?

ANSWERS :

1. Arriving in the wake of the 1967 war, one of the shocks which was widely discussed in the public domain at the time was The school curricula of what the Arabs had been learning .Every level of Arab education in the Arab nations around Israel had been learning the “value” of exterminating the Jews. The wild incitement to throw the Jews in the sea on the eve of the 67 war grounded in their “education”. In other words, the victory of the 1967 war did not mean that the Jews had defeated their hearts and minds

2. A decision was therefore taken by Israel intelligence to conduct a grass roots educational effort to reach out to the Arab population in the areas acquired by Israel to educate them about the Jews, and to reverse years of the demonic image that Arab nations ground into the heads of Arab youth. This involved intense work in Arab schools in Gaza, Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria .

Full disclosure : I was involved in that effort to create the rudiments of Jewish Arab understanding , in my first job in Israel, working under Rabbi Jack Cohen at Hillel, who fostered the first Jewish Arab dialogue group at Hebrew U

3. Other efforts to reach out to the Arab population focused on economics, not education,

4. Yet there was a widely accepted idea that when the nascent Palestinian Arab movement would create its own curriculum, independent of the Arab world, still at war with the Jews under the aegis of the Arab league, then there would be a chance of peace.

5. However, the first curriculum of the Palestinian Arabs , created in 1998, nurtured the Nakba , and fabricate the idea that the purpose of Zionism was to expel the Arabs from Palestine. For the past 24 years, Palestinian Arab youth have been brainwashed to think that every Jew who returned to Zion did so with malice aforethought. The Nakba transformed every Jewish community in Israel into a target for Arab terror.

6. The Nakba curriculum coincided with the Wye Conference, which I covered, in October 1998. At that conference, Israel welcomed peace education experts from around the world to work with the PA to create a peace curriculum.. The diplomats who conceived of a PA peace curriculum, guided by Shimon Peres, were convinced that an era of peace promotion was about to take place. Instead, the PA fostered a full scale curriculum of war

7. Our agency was given access to the new PA curriculum which was published on August 1. 2000, when the PA Minister of education presented our agency with the first set of text books published by the PA for review. These texts were handed over to UNRWA as the exclusive source of education for UNRWA schools in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and Gaza. We hired a team of Arabic speaking journalists with advanced degrees in Islamic studies, who have reviewed more than 1,000 texts published by the PA ever since that time, and we have produced more than 20 short movies filmed on location in the PA The head of our team who reviewed the books characterized the texts as a “curriculum of suspended war”.

These are the summaries of our studies: https://www.terrorism-info.org.il/en/?s=GROISS

8. The Jewish population can benefit from a new era of peace with the Arab population if the foreign donors and COGAT were to have the opportunity to review and replace the PA curriculum of total war with a curriculum of peace and reconciliation which has been developed by a team of Arab experts yet has not been implemented

Rep. Mario Diaz Balart Amendment in SFOPS Appropriations Bill to Restore Conditions on UNHCR & UNRWA

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart offered an amendment to the State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs (SFOPS) appropriations bill that would restore long-standing conditions on funding to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to ensure that they cannot misuse taxpayer dollars to further a myopic, anti-Israel agenda.

UNRWA inciting violence with U.S. funding, study shows

A new IMPACT-se study which analyzed hundreds of pages of the new United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) school books, shows the agency continues to incite violence as well erase Israel’s existence from maps.
Follow Ynetnews on Facebook and Twitter
The new study materials for 2022 were not uploaded to UNRWA’s online study portal, where the agency claims all materials it produces can be found after meticulous editing that comply with the UN values such as peace and tolerance.

An UNRWA school books reviewed in the IMPACT-se studyAn UNRWA school books reviewed in the IMPACT-se study

The materials reviewed in the study conducted by the Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se), was produced, edited and approved by UNRWA and released to thousands of students, teachers and staff in over 30 schools.
Lessons in the curriculum includes calls to free Jerusalem with blood. Arabic spelling and vocabulary exercises which include words like “Jihad fighters” against the “Occupiers” and an obligation to “free” Palestine.

Arabic is taught through poem that teach the “hobby” of killing Israelis and dying as a martyr in the holy war, and that peace is an unwanted sign of weakness.
In eight grade school books, female students are taught about women who sacrificed themselves and their children for Islam and earned fame as role models to follow, in Palestinian society.

Antisemitic materials are also included in the updated school books published by UNRWA, who had committed not publish any more inciting materials.
In those books, Jews and Jewish traits are described as impure and treacherous and anti-Islam and Muslims. The books teach that Israel was an anti-Arab plan of European colonization set to divide the Arab world.

פיליפ לזריני מנהל אונר"אUNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini (Photo” Reuters)

Israel, which is part of the UN, is wiped from all records in the agency’s maps, presenting Palestine instead and asking students to name cities in areas under Israeli control.
The study showed that content produced previously by UNRWA, which it claims teachers were told to avoid, are still present in the new materials published as well.
IMPACT-se representatives met with UNRWA head, Philippe Lazzarini, in May and said they were worried about the covert production of new materials and their absence from online presence . The study was brought to Lazzarini last week before it was published.
UNRWA committed in 2021 to removing material inciting hate and violence that it produced, as well as to deal harshly with any who may try to teach such content.

The agency had to announce its employees produceג and distributed “in error”, “unfit” material which goes against UN guidelines. Their online portal was created shortly after.
In a discussion in the UN congress over the UNRWA study materials in June, U.S. ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said the topic is “A red line to all of us.”

שגרירת ארה"ב ב או"ם לינדה תומאס גרינפלדU.S. ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield (Photo: AFP)

She claimed the agency is acting for the removal of such material and that the American government is working “very closely” with it and “overseeing their work.” The U.S. donated close to 400 million dollars to UNRWA since President Joe Biden became president.
UNRWA stated it was reviewing the study in detail.

“After a similar occurrence last years, UNRWA promised to remove any inciteful material it produced. Marcus Sheff, IMPACT-se CEO said. “It seems the agency took this as a removal from the website where such material can be seen but had not removed it entirely,” he said
