News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (August 29 – September 4, 2018)

The “return march” and Gaza flotillas continued this past Friday. Rioters threw stones, burned tires and broke into Israeli territory in the northern Gaza Strip. Senior Hamas figure Khalil al-Haya said Hamas had accepted the demands of Egypt and the UN to decrease the launching of incendiary balloons. He said Hamas also invested great effort in dealing with those who launch the balloons. The main event in Judea and Samaria was the prevention of a stabbing attack at the entrance to a neighborhood in Kiryat Arba 

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (August 8 – 14, 2018)

This past week events focused on the fifth round of escalation between Hamas and the IDF, during which Hamas and the other terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip launched approximately 180 rocket and mortar shells. The fifth round of escalation and the “return march,” which was held as usual on Friday, clearly illustrated Hamas’ determination to continue its policy of controlled violence, implemented since March 30, 2018. 

The fifth round of escalation between Israel and Hamas, August 8-9, 2018

On August 8 and 9, 2018, there was a fifth round of escalation between Hamas and the IDF. Hamas and the other terrorist organizations fired about 180 rockets and mortar shells at Israeli territory. The IDF responded with extensive attacks on Hamas’ infrastructure and assets. During and between the rounds of escalation (end of May to August 9, 2018), more than 610 rockets and mortar shells were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israeli territory.
