Last month, the California State Board of Education (SBE) approved the fourth draft of the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC) for use in K-12 classrooms. As you know, the first draft ESMC contained blatantly antisemitic and anti-Zionist material, and was widely rejected by the Jewish community – including by the California Legislative Jewish Caucus, whose members took the lead in exposing the “anti-Jewish bias” of the draft – as well as Governor Newsom, who vowed the first draft would “never see the light of day.”
In a recent op-ed, AMCHA director Tammi Rossman-Benjamin described how a bill (AB 101) mandating ethnic studies courses as a graduation requirement in all public and charter high schools in California, which is currently making its way through the state legislature, will open the door to many if not most school districts in the state adopting the highly politicized, antisemitic first draft of the ESMC.
As a result of an unscrupulous campaign launched by the original authors of the first ESMC draft, more than 20 school districts have already adopted resolutions in support of this overtly anti-Jewish and anti-Zionist curriculum. The Jewish community and its supporters do not have the bandwidth to oppose the adoption of antisemitic curricula in each of the hundreds of school districts where they are likely to be considered if AB 101 becomes law. This dangerous bill must be stopped.
TAKE ACTION: Sign the letter to the CA Legislative Jewish Caucus urging caucus members to once again stand up for the Jewish community and firmly oppose AB 101:

A sinister attempt in California to indoctrinate high school students with anti-Jewish and anti-Israel “values,” fought for years, may succeed—and then spread to school districts across the country. Max Samarov, director of research at StandWithUs, Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, director of the AMCHA Initiative, and Melissa Landa, founder of Alliance4Israel, as well as other leading minds join Edwin to investigate the dimension of the danger.
