Towards the forthcoming federal elections in Germany, UNRWA Monitor, pioneered by the Bedein Center for Near East Policy Research and the Israel Resource Agency, provided an unprecedented presentation on September 9. 2021 for the “Initiative Interdisciplinary Antisemitism Research Trier (IIA)”, to inform German citizens about the indiscretions of the UN refugee agency UNRWA and, in particular, about the German responsibility for UNRWA as its largest donor nation.
Exactly three years ago, the US cut off funds to UNRWA due to financial scandals and documentation of UNRWA cooperation with terrorist groups, whereupon Germany replaced the US as the leading donor nation.
In the presentation, UNRWA Monitor provided insight into the development of UNRWA and its current politics and presented a shocking, German-language, short documentary about this year’s Hamas military training summer camp in Gaza, geared to the systematic indoctrination of UNRWA students, as young as 10 years old.
UNRWA Monitor then presented textbooks of the Palestinian Authority used in schools, which are embued with anti-Semitic teaching content, which violates the peace education principles of the U.N. Textbooks used in UNRWA schools – Israel Behind the News
UNRWA Monitor not only presented the problem, but also a solution, which is the UNRWA reform initiative. The UNRWA Reform Initiative – UNRWA Monitor (unrwa-monitor.com)
As the largest UNRWA donor nation, Germany, given its past, has a unique responsibility to promote policy change.
The frightening images of the summer camps, but also the highly anti-Semitic examples from the education sector, shook the audience. The fact that an anti-Semitic indoctrination of children, on a theoretical as well as practical level, is carried out with German funds, has been unknown for years and presents a new challenge for German voters as they go to the polls.
The event was funded by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and took place on 09.09.2021. You can see the recording of the event here:
