  • On 29 November, BADIL – Resource Centre for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights issued a press release on International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, saying that true solidarity should not be symbolic but should require action to end the Israeli colonial-apartheid regime and giving the Palestinian people back their land and their rights.

 

  • On 27 November, Al-Haq, Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, and other civil society organizations issued a statement calling for urgent action to stop the forced displacement and transfer of Palestinians in Gaza, noting that forced displacement often precedes genocide.

 

  • On 26 November, Al-Shabaka published an article titled “An Inevitable Rupture: Al-Aqsa Flood and the End of Partition” which puts current events in a wider context, arguing that Hamas’s operation on 7 October was a moment of rupture for the partition framework.

 

  • On 22 November, Peace Now published an article highlighting an unprecedented surge in illegal construction by settlers across the West Bank. In the past six weeks alone, they documented the establishment of at least four new outposts and no fewer than nine new unauthorized roads.

 

  • On 22 November, Adalah launched a new podcast on Palestinians’ rights which will feature engaging discussions with Adalah staff lawyers and other legal experts. The first four episodes center around the escalating political persecution and crackdown on the freedom of expression for Palestinian citizens in Israel.

 

  • On 21 November, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) published an article highlighting the unprecedented violence by settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank as media attention is focused on Gaza.

 

Asia and Europe

 

  • On 28 November, the Palestinian Return Centre issued a press release to mark International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, noting that “Israeli genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing of Nakba are two sides of the same coin.”

 

  • On 28 November, Agence Média Palestine published an article (in French) describing the situation in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, as the humanitarian ceasefire allowed Palestinian families to leave their homes and shelters for the first time in weeks.

 

  • On 27 November, Amnesty International and 99 other civil society organizations sent an open letter to the European Union and member states expressing concern over announcements by several European countries and the European Commission to suspend or review funding to Palestinian human rights organizations.

 

 

  • On 24 November, the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network issued a press release expressing support for students who organized and participated in the School Strike for Palestine, which called for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to Australia’s military support of Israel.

  • On 8 December, the Center for Palestine Studies at Columbia University will hold film screening and panel discussion to celebrate the publication of a 2023 edited volume titled “Gaza on Screen,” which explores the practice, production, and impact of film and videos from and about the Gaza Strip.

 

  • On 30 November, Friends of Sabeel North America will hold a virtual event titled “The War in Gaza: Where are we? Why are we here? and Where in God’s name could we be going?” which will feature a discussion between activist physician Alice Rothchild and international human rights attorney Jonathan Kuttab.

 

  • On 30 November, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will hold a virtual event titled “Navigating Discourses on Israel and Palestine: Civic Space, Expression, and Dialogue in Challenging Times,” which will feature a discussion with Tino Cuéllar, Yael Berda, Daniel Levy, and Suha Salman Mousa.

 

  • On 29 November, The People’s Forum held live performance of “The Gaza Monologues” in New York City. These are testimonies written by Palestinian youth in 2010, highlighting the fears, hopes and resilience of Gazans.

 

  • On 26 November, Human Rights Watch published findings from its investigation into the 17 October explosion at al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza. Based on the evidence, it appeared that the explosion resulted from a rocket-propelled munition, but further investigation is needed to determine who launched it and whether it violated the laws of war.

 

  • On 24 November, Jewish Voice for Peace published a timeline titled “Countdown to genocide: the year before 7 October,” which highlights various events that have taken place in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory since November 2022.

United Nations

 

 

  • On 29 November, Secretary-General António Guterres issued a message to mark International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, reiterating the commitment of the United Nations to the Palestinian People, even during this dark chapter in their history.

 

 

  • On 29 November, UNRWA issued a press release noting that on 27 November, humanitarian assistance was able to reach UNRWA shelters in northern Gaza for the first time since the war began.

 

  • On 28 November, the General Assembly held a debate on the Question of Palestine.

 

  • On 28 November, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, issued a statement on the period of paused fighting which has led to the release of 51 Israeli and 18 foreign hostages, 150 Palestinian prisoners and detainees, and allowed the UN and its partners to scale up their delivery of humanitarian aid across Gaza. He welcomed the announcement of an extension of the agreement and called for the release of all remaining hostages.

 

  • On 28 November, WFP issued a press statement detailing the supplies it had been able to deliver to Gaza during the initial pause in fighting, while noting that the aid was inadequate to address the level of hunger they had witnessed. WFP expressed concern over the risk of famine and starvation unless food can be delivered regularly at a large scale.

 

  • On 27 November, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General issued a statement commending the Governments of Qatar, Egypt and the United States for facilitating the agreement which has led to the release of hostages and prisoners, and recognized the critical role of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

 

  • On 27 November, the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Morris Tidball-Binz, and the Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, Alice Jill Edwards, issued a press release calling for prompt, transparent and independent investigations into allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated in Israel and in the Occupied Palestinian Territory on 7 October and thereafter.

 

  • On 25 November, OCHA provided a note to correspondents on Gaza detailing the aid delivered to northern Gaza following the start of the humanitarian pause.

 

  • On 24 November, WHO issued a press release describing a joint UN operation carried out in cooperation with the Palestine Red Crescent Society to transfer critical patients from Al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza to hospitals in the south of Gaza.

 

  • On 24 November, UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini provided remarks at a press conference following his visit to the Gaza Strip, describing what he had seen.
