In this new school year , UNRWA is using the schoolbooks that are representing the same curriculum which fosters the ”Right of Return by force of arms“. 

This is a continued theme of UNRWA education which can be demonstrated by a clear read of their textbooks.

Hamas demonstrates full control over all UNRWA facilities in Gaza. This adds flame to the fire of UNRWA school curriculum in Gaza, where at this time 75 % of the Gaza population dwell in UNRWA refugee camps.

In consecutive elections since 1999, our studies have shown that Hamas has won full control of the UNRWA Gaza Workers Union & the UNRWA Gaza Teachers Union. Hamas has maintained  that control  ever since, despite the fact that Hamas is defined by the United Nations and most of the UNRWA donor nations as a terrorist organisation. As of March 2020, Australia defines Hamas as a terrorist organisation. 

Our films of UNRWA education in Gaza shot on location since 2009 have shown that Hamas has used the UNRWA schools as training grounds for military operations and with UNRWA students  armed with live weapons on UNRWA premises.

These films have been screened more than once  at the United Nations press association, at the office of the UN Secretary General, at the US Congress, the Canadian,  British, Swedish Parliaments and at the German Bundestag so that the UN and the donor nations cannot say that they do not know what  the consequences of UNRWA education in Gaza are.

Renewal of UNRWA schools in Gaza means that Hamas can once again operate  from a convenient base of operations, to motivate an indoctrinated school population to shoot light weapons, balloons and rockets into southern Israel, fired from the cover of UNRWA schools, whose motto  remains: “The right of return by force of arms”.

The minds of young UNRWA pupils in Gaza are instructed that Israel’s Western Negev was populated by their Arab villages and that they were expelled to „temporary” UNRWA refugee camps in Gaza. They have been there ever since, educated by UNRWA schools in Gaza  that they possess the right to take back lands lost during Israel’s war on Independence at the time. The young students in Gaza have no idea that six Arab armies invaded the nascent state of Israel at its birth in 1948.

For years, our TV crews in Gaza have documented how Hamas has galvanized children from UNRWA schools to march on the fences which demarcate the Israel frontier.   Israel and the UNRWA donor nations know exactly Hamas is again capable of doing under- the protective haven of UNRWA schools.

The question remains: What will the UN and the donor nations do in the new school year to prevent the UNRWA schools in Gaza from using  UNRWA as a launching pad for further attacks. 

This is the scenario awaiting the new UNRWA school year in Gaza. 

For some reason, UNRWA has decided to open its schools – exclusively in Gaza this time.

This begs the question as to whether the UN and the UNRWA donor nations will step in as a moderating force.

Over the past four years The Center for Near East Policy Research has held five meetings with senior officials of the UN Secretary General accompanied by Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.  

The staff of the UN Secretary General made it clear that it is a responsibility of the donor nations to take responsibility to oversee that their donations to UNRWA are used for peaceful purposes.

With the launch of the UNRWA Gaza school year this coming Saturday,August 8th, will the  donor nations  make sure that the UNRWA school year in Gaza acts according to the values of the United Nations?
