The term “prisoners” has been inappropriately used to describe those Fatah or Hamas members held in Israeli jails.

The term “prisoner”connotes a soldier taken as a “prisoner of war” in battle.

The Fatah and Hamas members held in Israeli jails have been duly convicted in a court of law of murder, attempted murder or of membership in a terrorist organization.

They should be therefore be referred to in the media as “convicts”, not as “prisoners”.
